Alaska Trip Journal

Day 1

Day 1 was not very fun. After all, I think it will be our most boring day in our 17 day vacation. Today we drove 1,000 miles. It was very , very,  very,  very, very, very,  very,  very,  very,  very,  very,  very,  very,  very,  very boring. Here is the basic summary:

On day 1we left our awesome house at 6:07. By the way, I woke up at about 5:37. We first went on CA-85 then Interstate 237 after that Interstate-880 than Interstate-680 than (annoying) Interstate-80 last Interstate-5. I don’t like the planes part of I-5. Now I am going to talk about the part Steven Didn’t talk about because he fell asleep. During that time, we saw a couple dust devils. We also saw some hot air balloons. It was very cool. It was about 11:00 when we got to Redding.
In about a few more minutes, we got to Oregon. Oregon was pretty boring. At Portland, we stop to grab a snack which was a Chips Ahoy!. It was very yummy. Chips Ahoy! are chocolate chip cookies. I also had a Choco Pie. We guessed the last exit number in Oregon. Me and Steven guessed correctly. In Portland, We also got stuck in a fruit I mean traffic jam. In Washington, it was basically just farmlands and other boring things. During the border there was a traffic jam. The person at the border thingy asked a lot of questions. Some were if you had any fruits. Why do they care about that????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? Then we spent about half-an-hour finding our hotel. We slept at a Super 8. We slept in Abbotsford. That’s the end of day one.
Day 2

Today we drove from Abbotsford to Dawson Creek. It was kind of boring, well except for the last part which will be included later. Here is the basic summary of the day.
Today is day two; we drove from Abbotsford to Dawson Creek. It was kind of boring except for the last part which we played at the Alaska Highway Mile 0 Monument. It was fun, but first I have to talk about the things on the way there. I woke up at 7:00 AM Then I went to breakfast. They didn’t have anything good there.  Steven had some oatmeal. We detached at 7:30. On the way it was boring. At Dawson Creek it was fun. First of all, I got a new camera lens, It can zoom to 105, but I don’t know the point of it. This is the end of day 2.

Day 3

Day3 was interesting. We drove from Dawson Creek to Watson Lake. The start was kind of boring. Here is the summary.
On day 3 we drove from Dawson Creek to Watson Lake. I woke up at 6:55 in the morning. (I knew that because I looked at the clock. I try some waffles, but they didn’t have syrup. It didn’t taste good. I ended up having Choco pie for breakfast. For the first couple hundred miles, it was kind of boring, except the fact that my dad would go very fast and pass every car/truck/bus he saw and wasn’t going at like 10,000,000,000,000 miles an hour. It was very fun. Towards the end of the ride we saw 9 baby bear s and a whole herd of buffalo. It was cool. For the herd of buffalo, we got off the car to get pictures. One of them rolled in the mud. For the bears, 7 of them were just wandering around, but the last 2 were eating berries from a tree. How cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! J At Watson Lake, he slept at a place called “Dragon’s Den”. It was pretty cozy. Then we went to Sign Post Forest.
We explored for about 2 hours. There were a lot of mosquitos. Then we went to sleep

Day4

On day4 we drove from Watson Lake to Tok on the Alaskan Highway. It was fun. Here is the story of day4.
US custom, dad became careless and almost drove off the bridge ramp.  After a few more hours, we got to the US custom. This person wasn’t as annoying as the guy at the other On day4 we drove from Watson Lake to Tok on the Alaskan highway. It was very fun. I woke up at 6:30. They didn’t have any breakfast. It kind of sucked. We drove and we saw 37. We kept on driving until the afternoon where the road trolled dad because it was so bumpy. It took almost took 4 hours. Then we saw two bears running. The first bear was fatter and the second bear was skinnier. The first bear was lightly colored and the second bear was darker. They were heading towards a campsite where 4 people were talking. Oh-noes custom. Then the road got very smooth, right cthen, it got bumpy and dad was trolled again. In a few more minutes, we got to Tok; it took us about 10 minutes to find a hotel that had room. Here is the end of day 4.

                          Day 5

We drove about 300 miles on the Glen highway. Then it combined with the parks highway. At palmer, we turned onto the old Glen highway. It was a road that went through the mountains, it was pretty scenic. Then after the old glen highway combined with the Glen highway, It became a actual highway. We first hiked the trail that was 0.8 miles long and got very close to it, but we couldn’t touch it. Then we hiked to the outwash and touched the Glacier. Before you can touch it, you had to climb through some trees. I was afraid my dad would hit his camera lens on a wall because. It was very big and worth a lot of money I was the first one to touch the ice on the glacier. It was very fun. Then we hiked out and drove to seaward. We then got on the stirring highway. We drove past stirring into a city called present ( I don’t know.) The hotels are very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very

It was kind of boring until after the Yukon River crossing Then the road conditions got worse and there were lots of steep hills. Three of them had a name. They were Sand Hill, Roller Coaster, and Rock and Roll. Whenever we stopped, mosquitoes tried to get in the car. At the Arctic Circle monument, i was getting on the car when a mosquito got in the car. When I slapped it, the blood inside the mosquito splatted on my window. On the way back, The ride was kind of boring. When we arrived at fairbanks again, we found our hotel, Pioneer Park Best Western plus. I really liked it. Then we went to sleep.

Today was a very interesting day. Here is the summary.
Today I woke up at about 7:30. I was the second one to wake up. The first part of the road was kind of boring but, the Top of The World Highway was very interesting. The whole Top of The World Highway was dirt. It went on the top of the mountains. The mountains weren’t that tall, only 4,000 ft, but they looked like they were 10,000 ft. They looked tall because the base was at sea level.  My dad’s max speed was about 40 mph. It took about 3 hours to drive the about 100 mile road. When we arrived at the end of the Top of The World Highway. we had to cross the yukon river by boat. The boat was very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, loud. Once we crossed the yukon,  We started looking for a hotel. The hotel we slept in was called the bunk house. When we got in, It only had two singles, and one table, They didn’t even have a bathroom/washroom. After checking in, we went out to buy some dinner. we bought some pizza. We bought a large “gold nugget” pizza. ( Cheese, canadian bacon, pineapples) It was very yummy. then we went to sleep. It wasn’t comfortable. I finally fell asleep at about  12:30.

I was bad at making s’mores and I may have ruined all of mine but 2. When we ran out of chocolate, me and my brother started to play with some marshmallow only s’mores. We went until the canadian customs. Then the train turned around. because we didn’t have our passports. The ride back wasn’t that interesting. then we drove back to the alaska highway then we drove to teslin. We found a massive hotel ( Cabin ) It had 3 queens, 1 large TV , 2 sofas, and much, much more.
